I understand that people may view fantasy a little differently, but when we say fantasy genre, we tend to realize that means elves, dwarfs, halflings, etc. It also think it is safe to assume that in no "fantasy" literature dealing with elves, dwarfs, halflings, etc. would you find names like "jerkzoffontoast", "ballliker", "blowzurmom", "underthesheetz", etc. Even less offensive names such as "crushemsmashem", "tidybowl", or "thunderstud" are nowhere to been seen in the literature. Obviously fantasy names will be made up, but I feel they should be done so in line with the conventions set forth by the genre or game itself. Looking at NPCs usually gives one the idea of what names would be like for PCs in the game-world. Just a thought.

Why are aiming so low here? I like roleplaying...in real life! And I'm tired of all these names just shitting up my experience. Stuff like Cecil...what the hell is a Cecil? I say we round 'em up, deport them all to an island someplace, and then I can finally enjoy my interactions with strangers at the grocery store.

Oh and name Nazis need to get out more. Rated R names, get rid of them. Goofy names, who cares? Honestly "Painstick" is no better or worse to me than "Teluvial", what I care about is how well they play their class and how decent they are as a human being.

Same trivial nonsense as target rings, spell sets, and lots of other "stupid" shit.

Naming police is "classic"

Whats trivial for some is a big deal to others.

Hey, you want to be BigDickShaman, go play WoW, they don't give a fuck

The biggest and best trivial change that P99 made, and people still complained about, were guild tags to the right of the name instead of under it. Was a HUGE part of my play in classic eq and so glad they brought it back here.

People still raged and made posts because names were too long/too small to read.

The fact that something as trivial as the name of one of my random toons names upsets people irl gives me an odd sense of satisfaction, I'm just your run of the mill asshole though I guess

Agreed.

There are things that i just ignore because I get it... I had a monk on Live called Waxon Waxoff...

I try to leave people alone who use play on words, even those realistically, like i said in Fantasy novels I dont think any respectable author would ever do that.

Its the people who use phrases, or words that may be offensive, or disrupt gameplay that we go for the most. Copywrited names as well. I saw someone with the name Newegg Website once that I quickly fixed...

I have a 4 letter word as a name, and no surname, so that wow insult really doesn't do anything. I'm more referring to that fact that some silly name bothers people. It's psychotic to me.
