I was thinking we should post the names we do like, but that would probably force a namechange

I can tell you right now I have pissed off alot of people for renaming them. Especially taking away surnames because they form a phrase.

I enjoy role playing and realistic names of the fantasy world.

I doubt anyone here, if they were writing a fantasy book would name a character Crashin N'Smashin.

I tend to ignore people who request dumb surnames and strip the bad ones all the time.

You can ask Zage Themage, he pretty much went apeshit when i removed "Themage" from him that he kinda became a deputized name Nazi for me.

We try to enforce it. But as someone pointed out earlier we all full time jobs, or like myself juggle being a full time mom with kids. So when I get on to help out people and their petitions im more focused on the 30+ pages of petitions to go through then wondering the world looking for people with non fantasy names.

Don't see why not. Sounds completely appropriate for an Ogre or Troll... maybe even a Dorf.

The great fantasy novels of all time have such characters.

Several heroic souls petitioned me on live to have my main's name "Rile" removed. I even walked around with the surname "Sathir." Every time I logged on I expected to be named "Rilex" but it never happened, although I voluntarily dropped the surname at some point.

Weaselmancer Voodoodancer was the best name I ever saw on live.

Using a stupid name is like getting a face tattoo. You might be a really cool person, but people just aren't going to treat you the same.

Until you say something stupid to the wrong person with a face tattoo and get your ear bit off or brain damage. Edit: reminds me I think I want to create a Ogre SK named Mike Tyson.

Names can be fun though even in an environment like this because barring being totally offensive or racial they can mean something to the person who plays the character. I can get the name changing if it offends someone or is degrading to them but who are you to say what Fantasy is from one person to another? Now if the Devs are getting threats of lawsuit over names I can understand but I seriously doubt at this point any one of importance cares that their name or character name is being used in this game.
