Here's what you need for a discord type server:
Not perma death but, instead a very harsh penalty for death, like all items drop upon death, even no drop items. Significant level loss - 2-5 levels / 4-5 hours of exp time.

Also I would recommend custom items and dungeons, this aspect would make it very fun to explore dangerous places with the threat of perma death looming over you. The chance at loot, if even temporary until you die, would drive people.

Alternate ideas: capping level at 20, design all dungeons to fit with that level scheme
Capturable outposts and player positioned guards - this is a feature I really though was cool from one of the soldiers and kings server

The real issue here is the ability to stop the hacking..

Naez claims to have his own fix, but he's to blame IMO for Crucify being lost forever. Well you could blame me for not backing everything up... but yea. This server could easily be created in a matter of hours but after hosting a few servers myself, it isn't fun when your custom box has hackers running lose when you don't have all day to monitor it...

How would a wipe without fundamental fixes change anything? Now you'll grief nihilum off and instead of nihilum solo farming raid content it will be force or azrael doing it. Wipes won't fix shit, I know I for one would never roll here again if it was wiped especially with EQNext on the horizon and my growing immersion in league.

Because the "fundamental problems" are not bolt LOS and resist issues. The fundamental problems are a tiny population, top heavy population, lack of any legitimate pvp or competition, empty zones and gear disparity, etc etc etc.

Like I said, wipe the server, restart the cycle, all the sudden you have tons of people having fun playing EQ PVP. The hardship to those in the minority with lots of time invested and gear is outweighed by actually having a functional server.

I don't get it. How exactly would wiping the server lead to "all the sudden you have tons of people having fun playing EQ PVP?" If anything you just discouraged the "the minority with lots of time invested and gear" from coming back, resulting in an even lower server population! I mean, do you really think there are 200-300+ people just sitting around wanting to play on 99red if it wasn't for those damn high end players in one guild in particular?

^, you'll just end up with an even smaller pop after the initial "o cool a new box" phase wears off within 3-4 weeks

Yes I do. New people start all the time, see the state of the server, quit soon thereafter.

It is not about "griefing off Nihilum." Right now at any given time there is a large uncontested Nihilum raid force in VP/Seb/wherever, a few crusty bitches and a handful of ragtags in COM, and a bunch of new players on the verge of quitting after soloing to lvl 15 alone.

It doesn't get much worse than that. The argument of "join up and contest us then!" is a loser argument. Shit has been going on for like 10 months now.

Lastly, all of the "threats of quitting forever" coming from people like Heartbrand are completely unfounded. For most of his guild, EQ is their life. They will be pissed but they will not quit.

Sorry not sorry. Facts + Truth + Science = Wipe

I disagree with your OPINIONS, cause you stated no facts.

[1] - Have you been conducting exit surveys or something or is this just your opinion?

[2] - Fair assessment, but again have you been collecting in game zone census data?

[3] - Why is it a losing argument? Is Nihilum really that good of a guild? All day, every day, in /ooc and on the forums we hear about is how Nihilum is terrible at every aspect of the game, which leads me to logically conclude that anyone who can't beat them is even worse.

[4] - Maybe true, but if the server was wiped, I would not return, and are you really sure wiping the server would bring in more players then it would drive away? In my OPINION, I don't think it would.

Anyhow, none of this really matters since the Devs have said there will be no wipe. I am just bored and killing time, so I decided "why not ForumQuest!"
