My suggestion is if you legitamately buy a high end item (item not account) that you log the date and time in case you log in to a "banned" screen.
Been there, done that, produced date + time and it got sorted out. I'd rather one man get his account locked for a week or two than RMTers go unpunished.

RMT exists because there are buyers. Where there are people willing to buy platinum there will always be enterprising individuals willing to sell them platinum. Obviously the risk of being banned is not enough to deter people who chose this path.
The act of being banned only matters if you have time invested in your characters and plan on continuing to play. While every now and then I would wager this is the case, for a lot of people it isn't. Ultimately the more people are banned for RMTing the more risky it becomes. The more risky it becomes the higher the prices are going to go. The higher the prices go, the more enticing it is to people looking to make cash. As someone mentioned before.. war on drugs.. ya it's sort of like that. The only way RMT is going to go away is if people don't want to spend cash on in-game items. Despite what you personally believe/feel that has never, and will never happen.

This guy is running circles around the GM's and the GM's are banning people who bought 10k from this guy. There goes everyone to group with 30-40. Instead of fixing the root problem. This guy has MANASTONE(S) on his site and any item in game OF COURSE HE HAS A DUPE 28 million plat? GTFO?
