Slow Unplayableness

Hey all,

I've been playing the game for over a year and a half with very little technical issues.

Lately, P1999 has become unplayable for me as everything in the game including my character moves at a snails pace w/ lots of warping.

I think this is a setting issue, but can't track down what it is that I may accidently have changed.

I'm running a Core2Duo processor on a U330 Lenovo Laptop with 2GB of memory and searches are telling me I may have an processor affinity problem, but like I said I haven't had this problem at all in the first year and a half I played. Only in the last couple of days has it been this unplayable.

One thing that may help to diagnose this issue is that the slowness happens even at character select screen. It takes my toons there a LONG time to even swing their weapon.

Any thoughts on where to begin fixing this issue would be really appreciated.

I had this same issue on my laptop. Played several months with no issues then it just started happening. It appeared as if I were running under water. I tried doing all the different affinity settings and couldn't figure out how to fix. What eventually did it for me was going into power options and setting processor to 50%. At least it worked for me.

Oh lenova laptops XD I had the same problem (i got a bunch of lenovo and ibm laptops). What had worked for me was having youtube playlist on my browser running. Also, what had worked was putting EQ on a thumb drive/external hard drive.

The youtube suggestion worked. Just opened a video in firefox while playing and everything is back to normal speed.

I don't know why.... never needed to do it before.

For now it's a good bandaid since I don't know what the problem is.

I never figured it out, didn't really care because I listen to my youtube playlist all the time

Sounds like something is causing your processor to throttle down, most likely something in your power settings.

Not sure if that would work for him. I switched all the power settings on my laptop and never had any difference

The power settings aren't affecting anything that I can tell... Although I do have a suspicion that a faulty battery may be at play. I haven't changed out the battery since purchasing the laptop in Fall of '09 and it doesn't retain a charge for more than 10 min now.

Nonetheless, even though I haven't figured out the exact problem other than like an earlier post said simply "my real problem is I have a Lenovo." Other manufacturers don't seem to be having this processor throttling problem.

On the other hand for now the youtube bandaid is better than buying a whole new system.

Does your graphics card need an update? I had this same issue and that fixed it for me.

If using a laptop also check your heat . The thermal paste getting old/ dust buildup can cause otherwise fine laptops do start to overheat as time goes on
