Exclamation Is everyone ready for bonus xp?

For tomorrows start of two whole weeks of xp bonus?????

This extra two week bonus, combined with the permanent scaleing xp bonus is going to help usher in a whole new generation on red99, and just in time for Kunark with its special GM event (featureing quests that reward no-longer-droping Legacy Items) celebrateing the opening of Everquests 2nd (and some say best) game expansion The Ruins of Kunark.

A fresh server and fresh expansion to explore, and one that has benefited from YEARS of bug fixes found and sqasuhed from the blue server! It promises to be such a clean and crips launch, no rediculous bugs for "some" people to take advantage of and pull ahead... a TRUE fresh start for all!

Did I mention that coveted premier raid zone, Veeshan's Peak, is going to be "in" on launch day? ALL the raid content will be wide open and waiting for YOU to experience it...... WITHOUT varriance! Raid when YOU can and want to.

All this and more officially starts tomorrow, join us on red99 for the fast xp that will get YOU ready for....

The Ruins of Kunark

See you all in the Field of Bone!

I think warrior since you get pts more easily. Not to mention they have good hp so you can run if you get pked, getting killed is stupid lol.

With the release of Kunark for Red that means every player will have their own zone.

Is the PvP on Everquest actually decent? It seems more like a PvE game that had PvP sprinkled on.

If I joined I'd probably be an Iksar Monk. Would I get stomped by the good guys all the time or is it kind of rare to actually see people there? What kinds of things would I have to learn in order to succeed?

PVP use to be real fun in EQ, especially when it had meaning. At one time on the Rallos Zek server there was coin and item loot, so you had a lot at stake when engaged in pvp. This ruleset alone separated the population into PKs and Antis.

Also, pvp can be like a chess match at times. With attacks and counter attacks, dispells, etc you could find yourself in some great battles.

Without any real penalty to pvp these days its just an afterthought.

There is a thirst for hardcore rulesets and its a shame we cant get one in EQ. Just look at the DayZ mod for Arma 2. The game alone has been #1 on steam for months and this game has permadeath with full item loot. Now I dont want perma death in EQ like the old Discord Server but im always down for more at stake when pvp is involved.

Its not good vs evil on this server. You make your own friends and your own enemies.

For me the PvP is really good in a group v group setting. 1v1 stuff usually ends up being a slaughter b/c one person was attacked while lom fighting a mob or something.

This is my first pvp server myself and I like the pvp more than I thought I would. I do not seek out fights for the sake of fighting, but I like the option if I want to fight for a camp or get revenge on someone.

Things to know(at least the stuff I have learned so far) -

Make friends. If you try to solo all the time you are going to be really frustrated by random ganks when you are low on hp unless you pick a really remote unpopular place to fight or predominantly play from 3am-10am est.

Buy pummice(vendor 5 charge nullify magic for 15pp). you can use this dispell your opponents buffs dispell root or snare if they land it on you or your group.

Check /who often. You always want to know who is in zone. It is also good to have an idea who is who, pay attention to what class a player is so you can prepare accordingly if they zone in. Also good to know who are the type to be looking to pick a fight and who are the type who might just be there to get xp and only fight if you step in their way. Once you are in a guild friends/enemies usually are pretty well defined.

Practice jousting - staying on top of a person meleeing is often not the best option, nor is it easily done since they will be trying to avoid you some of the time. I have never really played a melee pvp so I am not going to elaborate on how to do this, but I'm sure others can offer input.
