I made a fun name on Red, and played the character.
I tried to make a character on P99 later to make sure I could keep the name on Red live, but it was rejected. So it must be an old unplayed name on P99.
It would surely be nice if names on beta are locked to that account for a day or so after wipe, or till they are deleted on P99.
Not to supplant the naming filter, of course.

From what I understand barn, if there character is played (lvl 10 plus on blue99) the person there has first dibs, which means they could petition to get the name back here if it's taken on red99 release by a ninja. However if they never play / its some random lvl 1 alt on blue whoever gets it first keeps it.

Would be great if a nilbog or someone could confirm this, just going off of random irc stuff from months ago.

Lovely, if you need clarity on the issue because you're planning on using the name 'Lovely' on live but its taken on blue 99 - I will petition hourly for you to win that case.

People that take names are retarded as fuck! You're not doing anything but assisting the asshole you hate! Let them have there name... easier to target them once RED goes live and curb stomp them in game. Not at character select! Which no one see's.
