display problem

My roomate recently installed the game and started to play project1999, the problem is all the characters, mobs, npcs, and him included show up as an all black figure, also the zones are not showing up completely as well, he followed all the steps in the user guide and still no success, we have also messed around with the display and video mods and none seems to work, any ideas what it could be? should he re-install the game?

Is he sure he's installing with the Titanium client?

just asked and he told me it is Titanium, he is trying to run it on a dell studio laptop
