So let me start by saying that I read the FaQ and followed the recommended procedures in order to troubleshoot the problem.
Background: I transferred over my files from an old hard drive to my new lap-top. I had a bit of trouble getting things to work but everything was fine and dandy for about a month until two days ago when I started seeing this Error 1017. In addition to the program error, another windows error popped up when I exit which seems like it must be related: "Could not write config file! Please check the file access: C:\Users\dsond\Desktop\ds\eqemulaucher_v180\eqemul auncher.data". I adjusted a few settings to my PC security, made a restore point and removed a couple programs prior to this error, but nothing that had to do with the EverQuest files or the EQemu files. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] What I have done to troubleshoot: I have tried turning it off and on again after every update. I am connected to the internet. I have attempted to log in from multiple locations. I have disabled my firewall and attempted to log in. I have made firewall exceptions to eqemu and to the eqgame.exe files. I have updated my drivers (computer is new) and updated with newest Windows update. My login server info from my eqhost.txt is correct. I went to the EQemu website and downloaded the latest version. I also tried re-extracting my P99 files into the EQ directory (did this before to fix file location issues). I also tried to system restore to my restore point I had made a few days ago, but the problem is still occurring. Here are the requested tech specs if needed.
I did not list my ISP or my router because as I said above I've tried this at multiple locations ruling that out. I believe this issue has something to do with the windows error. | ||
