Kizdean Gix faction

When I was a noob I'd get slaughtered by Kizdean Gix (named dark elf in WC, near the toll booth) every time I ran past him because I was KOS. Now however he cons indifferent to me. As a half elf I just don't see how this is possible (and no, I didn't have dark elf illusion on). Did his faction get screwed up with a recent patch?
