Default Necro Charm Leveling Guide.

I am a big fan of necromancer, I know they can start charming at 20. I was wondering if there is a place I can start leveling and trying charm leveling at lvl 20 ? Or if there is a Necro Charm Guide I can follow.

I feel like Necros would be good at this because of FD and all the other spells they have .

Necro charm works pretty good, but charm breaks are not really better than for an enchanter. Enchanter has pretty fast stuns and mezzes, so he/she can cast even a long cast time charm. Necro recharm at higher levels usually involves casting screaming terror first (at least for me) so you have the time for the long charm cast. Screaming terror is not that fast, so you will get some damage. Still, you can heal yourself... thats the real bonus here.

If you need FD when a charm breaks you usually did something wrong. Maybe the target was not rooted, maybe you are charming mobs that are too high... Be aware that FD has a cast time and that it does fail, so try to minimize its necessity.

Level 20-40 you can do exclusively in Unrest. It does get crowded sometimes but basement is often free so if you can push through to 29/30 it becomes a lot more reliable of a camp to get.

Basically charm stuff, pet attack other stuff, use Hungry Earth (undead only root) to root whatever your pet is fighting. Use Circlet of Shadows to break charm (highly suggest investing in one of these ASAP) and either undead nuke, lifetap, or hungry earth to kill off your pet at low HP.

FD if necessary. Always keep Harmshield up. Use Screaming Terror to Mez your pet on a break.

Beyond that it's rather simple.

This is pretty rough as I'm mostly going off memory:

When you first get charm, then you can charm some of the skellys around the windmill in LOIO. Just a little west of the windmill is a tower where 4 stationary skellys spawn. You can lull them to split. Some of these mobs will be very tough (i.e. not really possible at 20). But I found enough mobs to get higher.

Did unrest closer to 30. Basement when you can, but you can also go up into the Hag tower and charm there some. If you can duo with a cleric here then it is ridiculously easy and safe (with their UD nukes they are essentially a wizard that can heal you).

Don't think I charmed again until I was high enough to do Kaesora church area. It is a necro playground down there and some of my favorite levels thus far. I think I did this upper 30s to mid 40s but again just going off memory.

53+ can be done in HS.

Probably more could be added, but this is what I did. Have since started an enchanter alt since I discovered I liked charming so much.

Necro charming really hits its groove in the 50s when you have a lot of tools to work with.

Necro gets lich(heightened mana regen), lifetaps to heal yourself, heal over time for others, feign death, rune, mez and root. Not to mention invis, regular and vs undead.

That's a lot to work with.
