I'm getting back into EQ after a 7+ year absence and am currently L3.
What is the current loot practice of most low level PUGs? Round Robin? FFA? IIRC, using autosplit is a bad thing because it splits coins, not total value. If a mob drops 1pp, 1gp, 1sp, the looter gets it all.

In my limited observation, it seems about the same as it ever was: a few sticky fingers grab most everything. If it's a camp with noteworthy quest drops, like orc belts, scalps, ears, etc., those typically go alphabetical but the rest is often autosplit and anyone who isn't quick gets the shaft. Any significant loot is typically /random.

Reason: Forgot about the random rolls.

Varies group to group. Be clear up front about your loot concerns when you join the group. If you don't think it's being handled fairly, ask to have it changed or find another group.
Stays true for all levels. Most people are fair-minded, so don't be afraid to be vocal. Some people are just too meek to speak up when one person is getting most of the loot.

On P99 PUG group looting is wonky.
People do not like to clean their corpses, and this leads me to loot every single corpse for the sake of ensuring nothing of value will rot or go unnoticed. Doing this probably makes me appear like a loot whore, however I am only compensating for the extreme laze of my group members. When you join a group just identify your intentions and it'll be smooth.

free for all on vendor trash drops, just be courteous if you see other people looting it too don't take everything yourself
i don't /autosplit because #1 more often than not, monks will complain about added weight and #2 who cares greed is the general rule on high value drops, unless you request a NBG policy when you form/join your group and the entire group agrees

Things like crushbone belts are on rotation. Gems/vendor jewelry are sometimes but typically randomed. All auctionable loot should be rolled on regardless of NBG. Almost everything gets upgraded at some point which makes it a "greed" ultimately.

I miss the standard Main Looter policy from live - at least on Rodcet Nife.
1. Cleric gets 2 gems upon joining 2. Main Looter loots everything off every corpse 3. Main Looter builds gem rotation hotkey 4. Main Looter dishes gems on drop to applicable members 5. Main Looter /splits every 100 plat
