Default Considering making my first pvp character...

Hello Norrathians! I should come right out and say that yes I am a bluebie scum, but I have been interested for a while in trying out red. The main thing stopping me so far, is that I can't seem to decide on what class to roll, so I was hoping a few of you might be able to give any feedback on what kind of play style I would expect for certain classes. No, this is not a "what class is most OP?" thread, just trying to get a feel for EQ PvP since I've only done PvE until now. I've traditionally excelled at melee classes (Rogue), but I really enjoy Shaman/Enc/Bard for some of the challenges and utility they provide. Have played most of the classes except SK, Paladin, and Mage.

So if you feel like sharing anything about why you enjoy a particular class on Red99 I would be interested and grateful for the feedback! Thanks, see you in game soon hopefully [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

There's already a ton of threads / discussion on this. This depends really on what you want to do. There's ups/downs to most of them and also depends on your skill level. If it was me, and I never played a SK/Paladin/ or Mage... I would try one of those. All three of them are pretty good in PVP (however SK/Paladin is more gear-dependant than mage and starting from scratch might be hard for you). It also seems like tanks are the more in-demand thing right now (always seems hard to fill the tank). Either that or play your favorite class that you already know a lot about.

Every class is good for PvP it just depends on if you want to be better at group or solo, dungeon or outdoors, etc. Since you aren't new to EQ I'm sure you can figure out which is best for what. For PvP sake I would probably just avoid Mages. They still have their utility and place but their nukes probably won't land and other classes have better utility.

id go with cleric or druid as first, for one your always going to get groups as a cleric and as a druid you can solo + farm later. both good decisions.

ull find it much easier to twink a class you want to play after you get the main up 50+ and farming gear/plat

starting any melee here, expect to die quite a bit and not see any gear till 40+ unless its a sk.

shaman as well isnt a bad idea they are ideally strong in pvp right now, whatever you choose goodluck

Play the character you want to be. All are good in their own way and you can be a great success with any. Obviously if you want to do a lot of soloing end gane an ogre shaman is a top choice along with an enchanter.

But play what you want to play.

High end SK's and Wizards seem to me the hardest to kill on average. So I guess if you want to be Really into PvP might be the way to go. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
