Game Mechanics: Sea Dragon Meats

This item should not exist Pre-Velious.

I couldn't find any reference to people getting them off Faydedar pre-Velious. If you have evidence of it dropping pre-Velious from Faydedar let me know. Or Wurm Meat or Wyvern Meat...

This seems to be supported based off its item ID:

22815 - Section of Lodizal's Shell
22814 - Sea Dragon Scales
22813 - Sea Dragon Meat
22812 - Water Dragon Meat
22811 - Drake Meat
22810 - Walrus Meat
22809 - Wurm Meat
22808 - Wyvern Meat
22807 - Dragon Meat
22806 - Otterman Meat

So it's smack dab in the middle of a bunch of other Velious items in the ID system.

Faydedar specific drops:

11588 - Shield of the Water Dragon
11583 - Water Dragon Scales

In summary, Sea Dragon Meat + Wurm + Wyvern Meat should not drop until Velious. All existing meats should be purged from game. These items are used in no Kunark Quest or Tradeskill recipes:

All the meats listed are used in Velious tradeskills (evidence by the fact that they all require oyster sauces and seaweed vinegar, vendor purchaseable in Cobalt Scar) and are surrounded by Velious raid drops in their item IDing.

Being someone who prides themselves in the quality of their meat, I would think you of all people, would be in support of the removal of meats that were obtained in an unsavory and unjust (unclassic) way.

Didn't something like this happen with Wu's armor? And when they fixed it to remove the recipe didn't they leave any existing Wu's armor in the game?

Wu's armor, and Blue Diamonds were functional items.

Sea Dragon Meat currently is just a stack of items. It has no functional purpose in game right now. You can't equip it or wield it. You can't consume it. You can't combine it. No one in their right mind is selling or buying this item right now either.

We shouldn't launch Velious, Day 1, and have 300 Othmir Prexus Totems. That is dumb.

I'm confused as why this argument is valid. The items were dropping by mistake, and that will be rectified going forward. Functional vs non-functional is more about if you are somehow trying to balance gameplay. Let's be honest, there is a long list of reasons things aren't balanced the way they were in classic. There are huge advantages across the board which have been gained by non-classic mechanisms or items being in game when they shouldn't have been. My impression was, previously, that these were just taken as the growing pains of testing as we play, and any gains people made from these were what they were. In fact I remember specifically some people stockpiling enchanted metals before the cultural nerf went in, and those items were left the way they were. It seems odd to decide the opposite for this nerf.
