Tradeskill failure rates

Does anyone know the formula for the success/failure rate for combines such as research and tailoring?

I was 82 in tailoring and trivial is 88 and failed 6 out of 7 ten slot backpacks. At 85 skill, I was 1 for 2.

Trying to combine my 29, 34 and 39 spells, I'll be 2 points short of trivial and fail about 4 out of 5 times. e.g. 120 research skill at 39, trivial is 122 and fail almost every time.

Trying to find words on a low pop server with no EC tunnel and not being a porter really really sucks.

I gave up trying to make 34 spells, it was faster to level to 39 then to find enough words to where I'd be successful which is ridiculous.

That being said, I don't know if I've just been extremely unlucky or if something is going on. I thought trivial things should fail around 5-10% at most.

To clarify also, it's been my understanding as an INT caster, my INT affects my % chance of gaining a skill up and not the failure rate of combines. Is that correct?

Dunno man, I just made 3/3 copies of ice comet a good 45 pts below trivial, also dmf, call of bones and intensify death about 25 pts below, havent failed once, maybe you just aren't cut out for the caster classes pal, gotta click that combine button with nothing but belief in your heart.

From wiki:

Trivial higher than 68:
Chance of success = MIN(SKILL - (.75*trivial) + 51.5, 95)

Lower than trivial of 68:
Chance of success = MIN(Skill - Trivial + 66, 95)

5% fail / 5% success rate regardless of skill.

Seems about right. 217 tailor here. So 250 triv Velious armors would be

217 - (.75*250) + 51.5 = 217 -187.5 + 51.5 = 81% Success + w/e 5% odds.

Looks like you had ~53% chance of succeeding on ice comet. Lucky.

when you are below 100 in a tradeskill you fail much more, if its trivial it will be around 80% success, if you can gain skill you will fail plenty.
