Unable to change clip plane

Regardless of what I do, I'm unable to change my clip plane. I'm using the velious UI. The slide bar does not change the value, and I've changed my eqclient.ini settings over and over, to 99, 100, anything but 20, yet every time I start eq back up and log into a character, the ini file is set right back to 20.

I did a search and turned up this, but no resolution.
