yeah i think you have to pretend to be a legit company doing stuff like that sam bankman-fried kid. he setup a hedge fund to invest INTO crypto then defrauded all the investors.

just making a coin, and selling your share of it that was created out of thin air, thus tanking the price of the coin isn't illegal at all.
