this man cannot be helped, he is firmly entrenched in the belief that politics is still media vs. media, and that voters cannot make a decision outside of choosing one narrative or another.

As a former democrat, i can try to shed some light on this.

We have this philosophy that if you talk about something, it will result in that something coming true.

Like, if we had a conversation in the 2000s about how we may not like a particular aspect about Islamic extremism.. then someone who was a xenophobe islamophobia might hear that, and it would validate their biggoted opinions!

So, we can't talk about the negative things, because that just re-enforces biggots!

This perverts literally everything that we do or think. We constantly are trying to correct our language, so it can't be perceived as offensive.

We constantly want to silence anyone who says anything that can be perceived as an attack against a social group.

Its why they say things like, "the economy is doing great! It's just transitory!" because we can't stand the idea of validating someone who dislikes Bidens opinions.

Look at how they talk about literally anything, and you'll see this behavior is not just a trend but it's a way of life.
If we all can see this, including the voter base, then why isn't dem leadership agile enough to make a shift?

Obama was a political ninja compared to Bush, or anyone that republicans wanted to run in '08 or '12. Then he won, and did nothing. He literally showed up on capital hill or met with his staff fewer times than any president in history.

Why do democrats prefer to spike the ball after an interception, rather then run it to the end zone?

Because it's like the same flaw that make folks use the phrase "blasphemy!" to try to convert non believers.

Trump himself ducked Obama in '12. It was just a tough matchup.

I didn't vote for obummer in 12, but mostly becuase I just didn't care.

I sure as hell wouldn't have voted for trump though. Id have to see something like the physical sacrifice of Bernie Sanders, the start of new wars, people falling off of airplanes, and trillions being funneled to the 1% for me to be woken from my slumber.

Although maybe it was just all the woke starwars that tipped the scales for me this year.

Im a fiscal liberal, and social conservative. What can I say.

I refuse to believe that the majority of americans are actually as dumb as it seems when looking at them in large groups.

Obama was asked on the campaign trail prior to '08, "If you don't win, does that mean America is not ready for a black president?" He replied, "No, that would mean we failed in our messaging"

I saw the dems run great campaigns, I saw them stomp the republicans in '08 and '12.

It's baffling to me that they would then run Biden and Harris, it's baffling that there was nobody better, AND that they couldn't run a coherent campaign.

This shit is like NASA "losing the telemetry and technology to go to the moon" it's a level of incompetence that I can't imagine being possible.

It's the sort of thing that makes me wonder, was the deal for trump to win in '24 all along? and the 8 years of BS after '16 being political theater just to make people amenable to his brand of politics?

idk what to say, for like at least 10 years of my life I performed, and believed in this philosophy. Like I came to the conclusion that it was right. It's right to silence dissent, if the dissent is ignorant and dumb.

I was wrong, I can admit that. I was a hopeful fool.

Just because someone's philosophy is wrong, doesn't mean they are dumb IMO.

I think it was more the social shit. I voted for trump for these reasons:

1. I cant let democrats think this is how you win
2. I cant stand these fuckers I hope this makes them really mad
3. I don't give a shit who is president anymore fuck all these people I hope project 2025 is a fascist christian take over.

theres that overly-blunt and simplistic saying that if you're not a liberal at 20 you're heartless, and if you're not a conservative at 40 you're brainless

i find myself in an uncomfortable place seeing the dem party lose the majority of it's power and influence, the US gov't as a whole has burned so much credibility that the current admin is trying to release JFK, RFK, MLK files to try and recoup some credibility, the idea being "Hey trust us, we're different, we'll release information that you all already knew, and also, It's the Gulf of America, because fuck yeah!"

These token actions just open a door to a path that could rebuild some tacit trust in gov't, but not nearly enough.

I'll donate a year's salary to the dem party if they said they would get private equity the hell out of the housing market.

That would actually be something that could improve the lives of Americans.

A tough matchup that can happen again if 3rd terms are allowed.

LOL the amendment won’t happen thou and it would be easier for Trump to just be a VP and run the show.
