While I'm here, I'd like to get people's opinions on a good three-man group:

One of my friends is set on playing an Enchanter. The other will most likely gravitate towards a Necromancer/Rogue/Monk. What would be a good third character to run with then? I'm thinking a Druid or Shaman, though I'd really prefer to keep playing my Paladin. I take it a Paladin + Enchanter + Rogue/Necro/Monk (one of the three) would be awful.

My other thought was something like Magician+Enchanter+Necro or Wizard+Enchanter+Necro. Would I be best off just filling up the third slot in the group as a Druid?

of the combinations you have i'd say a cleric. You have healing, dps with the necro and clarity/cc with the enchanter. If you have enc/monk I'd go with a shaman or cleric again. Shaman can buff the monk/slow/heal/dps or cleric can buff group and heal the monk. If it is enc/rog I would think you'd need a tank type but then you'd have no healing as well. Personally if the person is set on playing a necro i'd try to convince them to go mage instead and do enc/mage/cleric.

Thanks a lot for the info. As much as I don't want to roll a Cleric, that is probably what I'll end up doing. I might try to convince the Rogue/Monk/Necro to go Warrior and roll us as Enchanter/Cleric/Warrior.

also keep in mind exp penalties for certain race/class combos. cleric/enc/mage none of you would have any exp penalty so leveling would be pretty fast. If you go paladin you are going to nerf exp 40% if you level together all the time. Shaman depending on the race has a penalty as well.
Cleric is not the most exciting class to play but you will not be hurting for groups imo with the new influx of players wanting a healer in group.

False, that combo will have to share the enc's 10% penalty. Yes, the paladin's penalty is higher still.

As far as combos, the "other" character will really set your decision.

1) Enc is a great basis to start any group (6-man or just trio)
2) Rogue is not a good option for a 3-man party, they do make a GREAT 4th man however.
3) If #2 picks Nec, then I'd suggest you also play a ranged character, preferably with decent healing. Pets can tank and DPS and you've got mana, CC, and healing all covered.
4) If #2 picks monk, then you will definitely need some healing help for constant action. A cleric or sham would be even more beneficial here than with the Necro partner.

Aye, if I switch from Paladin I won't have to worry about a 40% exp penalty. Thanks again for the advice, I am most likely going Cleric or Shaman to play with them, and keeping my level 13 (just dinged!) Paladin as an alt.

Since you previously mentioned you didn't want to play a cleric, go ahead and roll a shaman. Shaman/Necro efficiency is fantastic once you're able to efficiently transfer hp to the shaman so they can continue to cannibalize themselves for mana, while the Shaman contributes regrowth to the necro so as to assist in this process, as well as the obvious slows etc. while your pets rape all day.

A certain shammy homeland security special agent who frequents CoM knows what I'm talking about.
