I mentioned worry about AI giving misinformation, and your attempt to engage is: "using a self checkout line is hypocritical????" I am talking about generating realistic images in very little time with the effort to scam people. Your attempt to engage said something about artists and cameras because of stop-motion animation????? Genuinely unsure if trolling or there's a communication barrier. Either way, AI or LLMs more technically, suck at anything but generating rambling nonsense.

![]() Well you mentioned jobs being replaced and I am just saying that happens with every generation giving solid examples that had the same effect in industries we love and raised the quality of things we enjoy today.
I am trying to alleviate your concerns about jobs being lost, because that happens with every generation that replaces workers from the previous ones with new skills and tools. In terms of misinformation, go read elon musks twitter today. We suffer from that issue now, and always have, it wont be more rampant just because some kids invented some new ways to do the same old thing.

![]() I see. Well the difference is that you used to have to go to specific sources of misinformation, and this particular thread started because I Google'd something. Google provided misinformation from it's AI response.
To those who aren't familiar with how the internet works: they might take the Google AI summary at face value and not question the responses at all - trusting it's reliable because it's Google AI generated and must be a compilation of all the correct info. That's my take on that.

![]() Bottom line is: LLMs are undercooked. They are auto complete bots, but there are people out there that think they are like having a really smart friend.
More like having a friend who knows everything about everything - but when that friend is fact checked, they are mostly incorrect. Yet companies are investing billions of dollars into rollouts of AI features - without them being in a "finished" state, capable of interacting with humans. It's similar with self-driving cars. Companies can't even manage those robots that patrol grocery stores to stock shelves. A little 2 foot robot has a fit when a human enters the aisle - because robots are not programmed (and researchers haven't found a good way to program them) to deal with autonomous decision making agents (Humans) that might do something other than what was expected. Actual researchers in the field of AI and robotic vision know that we are leagues away from what is promised - But there's a whole lot of hype around self-driving cars and AI tools, and a WHOLE lot of money being poured into achieving very little. Part of me gets it: You own a company that promised self-driving cars. You have to believe your own bullshit to entice investors. You roll out a product to market despite it's obvious flaws because you need to recoup capital and sell some of your products to some rubes so your investors don't sue you into bankruptcy. I get it.

![]() Can you imagine it's 1950 and the video camera is being revealed.
And you're some old media tycoon and you say, "why some unqualified individual can just go record a fake event with this and trick the world!" And then think about how cameras have actually brought truth and justice to the world. And also how fake UFO photos haven't destroyed humanity and the exchange of information. Im confident these same concerns about Ai are going to play out exactly like that. Food, medial science, bla bla bla, we're gonna be fly'n mate when these kids using this grow up.

To what you said about auto driving cars, that's another reason i don't fear AI. Like tech has promised the moon for the last 25 years and so far has delivered sewer water. In 25 years we're going to be banging on clankers trying to do the same dead end jobs we're stuck in now. like starwars! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

![]() On a separate topic would love to have some random AI bots generated for a Twilight Imperium VI a TableTop game provided by Steam.
Played a couple times in colleague and loved it.
