The level 55 requirement on primals was always on there in velious. Same with limits on Club of the Ice Ocean and various other items. The flag was simply invisible and later (Luclin? PoP?) They just made it visible is all, so started popping up in screenshots.

Not sure why you are making some lame revisionist history argument that a level 55 limit was implemented due to mass supply and everyone on the server had one.

If there is lack of primals on p99 it's because warders never spawn anymore, was classic they can drop something ridiculous like 6 primals a kill plus rare items.

Do you have any idea how much it takes to get all that, nevermind on a level 5?

That is the sweatiest of sweaty.
Dude the worst is getting your doze loots all ready to mq for when you ding 46 and waiting with excitement for a glowing orb for once.

And having to wait to be able to click sow sword.

I think a lot of people are mistakenly remembering Ancient Prismatic weapons. They were functionally identical to Primal weapons, but they dropped from the revamped ST mobs and were not relevant for long due to the influx of other new sources of stats/atk. Actual Primal weapons were the opposite of "welfare loot" on live.

IMHO no, not at all. I remember almost everyone's twink on my server having primal weapons (it's why they later added a level requirement for them).

...

Discuss ITT: were Primal weapons really rare and prestigious or is this hearsay
There's no way, it was a very slow grind for Primals. We were the 2nd guild on the server to get enough ST keys on Live, which meant that the Sleeper was immediately released before we got any chance at dragons. Losing out on dragons was a huge blow to gearing up, it adds weeks and weeks of what should be an easy source of upgrades for NToV.

Now, once they revamped ST and you had Ancients to kill, yes, people had their primals. But from Velious until ~month or three into Luclin, they were very rare and bagged only once into NToV+.

Quote:
Luclin launching shortly afterwards made these items significantly less impactful in the traditional timeline of the game.
It took a while for Luclin itemization to get there, it was weeks before Ssra Temple even had drops.

Weird question... but what era were "primals"?
I played in the velious era back in the 00's but never heard or saw them.

Keep in mind in Velious on live you couldn't even get a primal until sometime like 6 months into the expansion. Basically by the time the top guild got keyed and entered all the mobs were level 1 humans with "!" in front of their name, including invis non-targetable mobs like the ones that do the zone shouts. The zone was incomplete and completely unitemized. Imagine the tears on a fresh Green where they mimic that timeline and give all guilds 6 months to key up.

OP is indeed full of shit saying primals flooded live during Velious. Boo this man!

This is lost on a lot of people. Pre-awakening you could get ~20 primals on a good night, plus other great loot, off not very hard mobs if you left Ventani up. Post-awakening you were getting maybe 6 primals and nothing else, . It was a crazy bottleneck practically designed for the top raiding guild to block everyone else.

From ~6months into Velious until Ssra was itemized. ST is an easy zone, its just difficult for some people to get in to. VT was a similar loot pinata but even more gated, whereas Ssra items (particularly Cursed and Creator) let non-bleeding edge guilds gear up substantially.

It's never been about what they have, it's about they can deny others.
