Like I said before Anger, it does frustrate me as well, but you can't control what's going on. All you can do is work within the system the best you can, to make the system best for everyone.

This not only means pointing out when you get the shrot end of the stick, but when you get the long end as well. "Why did I get the promotion when Melissa has been here longer and works just as hard as me?"

Equality is equality.

You however, Anger, are pretty silly, as is anyone who takes the word 'equality' literally when men & women can clearly be very biologically different. obvs it just means we want the same rights/privileges that have been withheld from us since the beginning of time.
If there were a revolt in Menzoberranzan, the males might demand their subservience in the sexual orgies of Arach-Tinilith to cease, but demanding everyone pretend that they are just as strong as a female drow is just folly.

Hey don't go thinking I'm altruistic, because I'm not, at least not anymore. After 23 years of doing this I learned that this does only 1 thing in the long run - sets you back.

I still try to do it as much as possible, but I weigh my options out now instead of jumping into it like I used to.

as soon as the bitch calls the cops on you, punch yourself in the eye and explain to her that either both of us or neither of us is going to jail tonight.

I know where you're going with this, and I don't necessarily disagree with it.

Say I'm at a bar and a woman slaps me in the face. That shit hurts. I don't care if you're Mr. Universe, getting slapped in the face stings no matter how frail and weak the woman is or how strong you are. My first reaction is to push her away from me, remove the problem from my vicinity. She stumbles backward, trips, and she thumps her head on the ground.

Now all the sudden, I'm viewed as the monster. Even though she did more direct physical damage to me, and I was simply trying to remove her to avoid further conflict (let alone the fact that when people see a woman slap a man, they automatically assume he deserved it for some reason). The focus automatically shifts to me, because I'm the man and "OMG you pushed her and made her fall! What if she has a concussion??". Cause and effect goes right out the window.

If I took anything but a passive role in this situation people would assume I was the aggressor. It doesn't matter that she is the one hitting me. If I yell, people assume she is defending herself against me. If I restrain her, people think she is fighting to get away. Anything but just taking it will land me in an assumed position of guilt from most people. And that. Is. Wrong.

Or, like I told Deathgirl earlier. What happens if I exert the same force on a woman that she's exerting on me? What if I level the playing field? What happens if I just hit the bitch softer than she's hitting me? It wouldn't matter.

This is a horrible double standard that people just seem to look the other way about because "that's just the way it is".
Right, I see what you're saying, I just think it's implicit in some of the comments here that somehow feminists are hypocrites for not being outraged at this double standard. For instance, you said in your first post:

Quote:

this is ridiculous. women cry for equal rights for years, but they only want the GOOD parts of equal rights. this double standard needs to STOP.
In pretty much all feminist literature I've read the writer has either directly or indirectly been opposed to all gender roles, not just ones that help subjugate women. So I don't think it's fair to say that women who fight for equal rights are actually asking for special treatment.

Unless they actually are asking for special treatment.

If a standard is lowered so that women can enter a particular job, then there is a problem: especially if the standard is not also lowered for the men.
