Yaw ur def right, server that couldn't break 200 for 3 years, and was often times sub 80 pop on non repop day is now suddenly 300+ because it's the 4th January of servers existence. Tons of new blue players on server as opposed to returning players, obviously logical to attribute this to 4th January.
