Kergan,

Turning into a douche-lord on forums. I liked you more as an objective poster.

Just because someone does a trade doesn't make them any less intelligent or capable than someone who is going to college or went to college.

Fuck man how many college student's working at Starbucks?

Having a trade, even one you did in the past is an awesome skill to have and to fall back on if shit hits the fan.

I wish I had been a plumber or electrician before I got into a desk job.
Uh, where exactly did I say that? Being a plumber is a career. Being an electrician is a career. Almost every trade based career rewards those that stick it out through the process until they are a Master XXX. Switching jobs every year to something completely different = not a career. You will accomplish a lot less in your life if you take that approach.

And where did I say anything about college? If you dig through my post history I've said spending money on college was a waste of money, and almost nothing you learn is ultimately valuable to your chosen profession.

Jesus dude, way to put words into my mouth. Please re-read my post and re-read what I quoted/responded to before you judge me.

Maybe it's because I'm an intellectual snob who grew up close to Yale and had many friends whose parents were professors, but there is a clear intelligence gap between college educated individuals and those who are trade school types.

"Intelligence Gap"

I suppose that depends on what you hold as your definition of intelligence. To me, it is the ability to learn things and to understand concepts both in a learning environment and "on the street" so to speak. I know many people with vast amounts of potential that don't know how to run a court trial or transplant a heart, but to me they are still "intelligent'

There were so many fucking retards that I went to college with.... buddy of mine works in a machine shop I grew up with is way more "intelligent" than those people in my eyes.

People that judge based on education and looks make me sick. I'm sure both of these groups can hold an intelligent conversation.

Eh, spoken like a true elitist. I have seen many college grads, who may be book smart, but have the common sense of a door stop. Throw their ass in the woods and see how long they survive.

Lots of misunderstanding in this thread. lol

Thought you were piggybacking on what others were saying.

I still hold to my point that your posts are getting worse though. Keep your head above the cesspool.

Also, don't get so mad.

Worse is all relative to your agenda. The sooner people realize everyone on here is posting for a reason the quicker you learn to not take things seriously. ForumQuest is a game in a lot of ways.

I do get a little annoyed when people take what I say out of context or flat our incorrectly though. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Intelligence is defined as the ability to learn and apply knowledge. College doesn't make you smarter, by definition - assuming that intelligent and smart are synonyms in your eyes. You could in fact make the argument that people requiring college to become educated need more time/effort to learn and so are in fact, less intelligent. I'm not arguing that though. The smartest person in the world may very well be some 12 year old pygmy tribe member somewhere in the Amazon rainforest, we'll never know.

And for the record, I went to "trade" school for computer networking. I now work as a lead network architect, so I have about the most specific and applicable degree I could possibly have...and it was still fucking worthless.

Going to college doesn't make you smarter but smart people know that having a college education gets your foot in the door. Unless you are starting your own business you need college to get the type of entry level job you desire. At that point it is up to the individual to shine and work their way up but without a college education a lot of times you don't even get the opportunity.

Posted basically this exact same thing a few seconds before you, so I guess we're in agreement. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
