As a player who didn't understand crap about this game at live when I was a kid and returning now, without serious knowledge of 75% of the zones and many I never set foot into, this is a harsh blow for me which won't be enough to have me quit but it's a disappointment. I absolutely understand the "This is not classic." thing going on, and I'm OK with missing maps for example. But the Compass wasn't doing much harm to those who want a classic classic experience, they can just hide it. And for the losers we noobs are, it's a bit of a deal breaker.

I have the nostalgia with me which will let me overlook such disappointments, but I can see how it would be a no-no for a new player having no maps and no compass either. Just my 2 cents, I very rarely post in spite of religious forums reading, and I know noone cares, but wanted to agree, please give it back [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Put sense heading on a hotbar

Alt O

Press Keys

Select category=Hotbar 1 (or whichever you put it on 2, 3 etc)

Right click 'alternate' that correlates to the position you put sense heading in (ie if its the 1st slot on the 1st hotbar right click Hotbutton 1 'alternate'

press D or whatever you use for left/right or whatever you want really. It will appear red thats fine

done

Problems with this, and they are not insignificant:

1) Spams your window.
2) Takes up space.

Hey, the guy wanted to know!

Besides you don't have to bind it to a movement key (useful to max it) there are many others to choose from that wont spam, but yes it takes a slot.

Thanks, this is way better than obsessively clicking Sense Heading to max it.

You can always put the sense heading spam into a different window.. and close it >.<. Also - as someone who played classic with no compass and blah blah thrown into a game with little to no reference.... I still have my binders full of old school hard copy EQ atlas maps... and yes I do still use them. Yes taking the compass out made it more classic, no it's not a huge deal to work around it - here are a couple ways to find your direction without the UI compass. Buy the item "A compass" - they're sold all over. Drop a weapon on the ground - it always points north.

Finally my best suggestion is to bind sense heading to a movement key, filter the chat to a new chat window and minimize it if the spam really bothers you, and get used to it =). As a newb back in the day I remember spending no less than 2 hours getting from gfay to the bb docks. It's just the way it was.... // sense heading + reference map = better than UI compass //

Also have people forgotten how to use /location ?
