Technically the same could have been said about EverQuest in 1998, but it worked out just fine.

And on the flipside, Sony has had plenty of MMO experience since then and still can't seem to get it right.

Experience in this genre is overrated.

Good ideas, design, and implementation > Experience.

I'm jazzed at the thought of Bethesda doing an MMO. I'll reserve judgement for after I do more research (later today). But the thought of an MMO in an environment like Oblivion or Skyrim is intriguing. We shall see.
