It is well known that a druid's role in raids is to get raid force to spot "A", then at end of raid transport them to spot "B". In some cases you can do some neat things, but in the end you really aren't *that* important. No trakanon raid is going to stop because not a single druid answered to a raid alert [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
Grouping is different. If you can play with even a minimial amount of thought, you can fill in 3 different roles. You can DPS fairly well. You can heal in a pinch. (Granted, clerics will always be the best. I have healed warriors in a group before, its just a lot slower). And you can even Crowd Control in some areas. (This is very rare however). Soloing, yeah we are good at that. I play one since that is what I played in live, and what I know. Is it hard to find groups outside of my guild? Very. I dunno, long rant. Druids have there place, but as everyone knows they are no game changer. But we can port, which puts us 1 step above rangers [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

You are just misunderestimating your power.
First of all, admit the fact that you will never be the best at anything. Second, acknowledge that druids are perhaps the single greatest empowering class in the game. Think about it, pretty much every single class in the game with one tactic or another can efficiently kill shit with a druid as their partner. Rogues can all of a sudden backstab mobs without getting attacked, granted with a little bit of running - and Wizards have a snare availible to them that allows a duo to QUAD at level 8 for god's sake. In groups, more often than not it's ME who is the main healer - nevermind a cleric. Of course, the power of the complete heal can never be matched - but with the right setup of people - namely slows and effective dps - you'll have no problem being the only person in the group with the ability to heal. With that said, having a cleric in the group allows you to DPS - druids are an absolutely ABSURD class to have in your group in Chardok if you have a cleric in the party. At that level, they have the power to dominate an Chokidai in the dungeon with their own Tash, Snare, and Charm and have extremely reliable charm DPS COMBINED with the entire gambit of druid abilities availible to them. Throw in an Enchanter with the Cleric and Druid that might make up this group, and you're asking the question, "why are you getting 3 more people?" And of course, CC. Again, for example, in City of Mist doing the Reaver Trash outside on the boardwalks can make for some hairy sitchiations especially if you're trying to pull the Reaver out of the door combined with repops. I've had no problem Snaring a mob or 2 for agro, positioning myself right outside the party, and hitting those mobs with THREE MINUTE ROOTS a piece and effectively mesmerize the mobs only to sit down in another spot and continue main healing. Really, CC is the easiest and most overpowered part of a druid done effectively. With my SK buddy that I regularly duo with, Adds are as simple as a snare and a root until he is done with the other mob. I won't even get into soloing. You can be productive in any part of the world just by simply going there and casting Root and Dot. It's such a simple way of killing stuff it should be criminal. If you can see a dark blue, you should not be complaining about not getting XP. For me, I avoid soloing like the plague unless I really feel like it - but there ARE spots that are extremely lucrative... you can get to 60 no problem, quickly. That said, friends are your STRONGEST ally as a druid - as stated clearly above, you really NEED them in order for YOU to flourish. I've made pretty much all of my xp post 50 by duoing or grouping with any mix of my Enchanter, Shadow Knight, or Necromancer friends. The key to small groups, though, is the fact that you are -NOT- the primary means of KILLING the mob. You, via snares, regens, strength, ds, sow, --whatever--, are making it easier for your partner to kill mobs. You should be pulling for them especially and catering to their every wish - You're making their life easier while they're feeding you expees. That was fun to write. Oh, and itemize your gear for HP once you get 200 wisdom or else you're doing it -COMPLETELY- wrong.
