Best race to make a shaman?

People always talk about the benefits of the racial bonuses without really addressing the playstyles, which is, I think, a better way of looking at it.

What kind of player are you?

Are you a super active mostly sitting at your computer and playing EQ kinda person? If so, Troll might be better. Troll regen will give you less down time so you can play more while you're at your computer. Troll edges out Iksar because of the JBB. Frontal stun immunity can save your life sometimes, but if you're a super active player you can get around stun immunity problems by timing your casts. The added risk of an additional death or so will be more than made up for by the additional benefit you get from the drastically reduced downtime.

If you're a mostly afk killer and you spend most of your time doing other things and come back to kill a few mobs every half hour or so, ogre might be better. You don't need the regen as much because, lets face it, you've been full mana for 10 minutes while you were watching netflix. The health regen doesn't really factor in for you so the cost of losing the stun immunity is much more pronounced.

Ogre 100% the min max, frontal stun immunity is supposed to let you stand with your back to a corner and transcend the interwebs

I say pick troll; the extra regen lowers down time and stacks with other regen abilities. you can get the fire resist later on with armor to make up for it. trolls can also use more armor options than iksars!

that is fine. they need as much wis as possible

Head to EC grab some buffs at the tunnel, I went from 4 to 9 in a few days with orc groups and pumas

If you can afford torpor Ogre is the best shaman. Frontal stun immunity makes it much easier to face tank stuff when root breaks or soloing a mob that summons. Yes troll and iksar regen are nice but at the end of the day once you are max lvl with torpor is doesn't matter.

regen stacks with torpor on the 6 second timers

troll is the best, iksar being a close 2nd

frontal stun immunity is alright, but pales in comparison to racial regen

Troll beats out iksar for better starting stats, slam, jaundiced armor ... and lets be honest ... trolls are just sexy.

I love my troll, picked up a slime coated harpoon, and cracked darkwood shield. Been just melee'ing for the last 5 levels. With the buffs from EC tunnel it's been almost no downtime.
