Every non iksar necro should reroll. Iksars are boss.

~33% exp penalty is something to consider when thinking of rerolling iksar necro. Your gnome is only 10% exp penalty

I rerolled my 42 DE SK as an Iksar solely for the extra regen.

Unless you are TOTALLY into min max stuff I would stay with the Gnome. A lot more friendly in most zones and cooler looking. My 2 cents.

Keep in mind that the -32% XP penalty that Iksar suffer is heavily counteracted by the increased efficiency that Regen provides to your Lich efficiency. In my tests with Uteu and Sesser, I leveled faster in the 49+ range on an Iksar than a Non-Iksar because I didn't have to use mana inefficient lifetaps nearly as often. While this doesn't do anything to help the XP penalty from 1-48, it does help you level faster in the time when it is hardest.

Further, XP penalty is temporary. Bad faction is temporary. You can repair FP/Qeynos merchants quite fast, and you can tag onto Lucan kills to make NFP your home. Circlet of Shadow will get you past guards, and FD will let you bank anywhere. Call of Bones will make Neriak Amiable to you, letting you get coffins, and you can even turn in Red Wine in 3rd Gate if you really want to repair the rep outside of skelly form.

Back on topic though, I'd argue that it comes down to your level of alt-itis.

What I mean by that is, if this is going to be the one and only character that you ever play, Iksar is the clear choice. In that case you won't mind putting in all that extra time to level an Iksar to back to your gnome's level (and the extra xp beyond that because of the penalty) because in the long run it will be worth it, and then once you reach 60 you'll have time to fix factions (if you even want to bother). But if you stick with the gnome as your only char, you'll forever be wishing he had regen.

On the other hand, if this is going to be just one character of many for you, who cares if your necro is slightly-less-than-maximally efficient? A gnome necro can farm loots for your other chars just fine, and will get to the level where he can farm the best loots faster than a re-rolled Iksar would.

Good point. I have a 60 and 55 level characters but i just dont have time to play and raid anymore. I usually put in a few hours, couple times a week and with such little time i found that soloing on a necro still let's me enjoy the game without any real time commitments. After reading all this i think id enjoy re rolling and the adventure back to the top with an iksar.

Gnome is master race. If any class could be a gnome, you should stick with it.

I recently had a 27 monk that I wished was an iksar. I rerolled at that point, and now he is 45.

However if I could be a gnome monk it would be gno question.

gnome.
