A dire wolf should be made of dire wolf DNA, not edits to gray wolf DNA.

Fake news.

Giant tomatoes. More food.

Giant wooly mammoths. More cardigans, we are an aging population afterall.

Next will be Smilodon, to keep tje wooly mammoth numbers down.

Etc.

we should clone wagyu beef cattle, naturally large salmon, other strong food animals.

the chinese are already editing people's genes

that's a race we really can't afford to lose

i reckon we won't have a choice when the food shortages start someday. the roachburger is on the horizon. did y'all see the thing about scientists in india finding ways to milk cockroaches? apparently the milk is very nutritious and calorie-dense, pound-for-pound.

harvesting would involve incalculable numbers of cockroaches dying, but even my bleeding-heart-ass won't lift a finger to save the cockroach.

eating bugs goes back further than the average westerner thinks.

besides, you've probably eaten countless aphids just like everyone else who has eaten lettuce at some point. the only bugs i've eaten on purpose were spicy crickets (would pass if offered again) and beondegi (not bad). oh, and escargot a few times. but snails are psuedopods i think, i don't know if that makes them 'bugs'

Im sure it does, many cultures eat bugs

but I wanna sink my teeth into 12oz of animal flesh and I don't care what, if any, impact that has on the environment.

cuz it has nothing to do with environmentalism, its all about creating some kinda soylent green type manufactured food product that is able to sit in warehouses for decades. so that the exact nutrition each human receives can be managed against like a social credit score or other human worth measuring system

it sounds nuts for sure but look at the world, alot of people would want that kind of power and digital technology has given them an avenue to vie for it

let's say a startup finds a way to grow human flesh independent of the human body, like on a lattice. say it's just a human thigh, it's pristine and clean, and there's no other body parts involved. nobody died, they just grew it from a cluster of stem cells or something.

can they sell human flesh as meat? would you try it?
