Eh... Okay here's how this goes.
Server Administrator is a full time job itself. Rogean's presence makes the server run better overall and he takes care of downtime. I strongly request and desire his presence to remain as Server Administrator. What he never gets credit for is very fast response time for server outages or issues with the loginserver. (His primary responsibility here.) With that being said, I am the project manager and lead content developer. I do not have the time nor desire to perform IT administration on top of these duties. If I was being paid by Sony or something to provide a classic eq experience, that would be my job and I would do it well. Ultimately, as I have stated in the past, my hobby/goal here is recreate classic EQ from launch till Velious. Player issues, and issues regarding the server are not the top of my priority list. I do make time to do item reimbursements if those reimbursements can be verified from our logs. I also try to make time for community posts and discuss classic everquest. I'm sure Rogean is just busy. Regardless of what you may think, you need him here. He ensures the servers are up and running. I might be willing to perform patches in a dire situation, but Rogean fills this role just fine. I have a real life job myself. (IT development and sometimes remote deployment/project management) You might not see me post for a while, but it doesn't mean I gave up; it means I'm busy. In his place, I wouldn't have responded to a lot of the threads directed at him. To all PvP members, try to act like normal people. See how it works out. Try it for longer than one day. Obviously trolling doesn't help; it makes it worse.

+2 for this. I think the vast majority understand this and are happy with status quo. Rogean does get credit for those quick response times. I guess I and others should make it public every once once in a while instead of just chatting about it. This is by far a top shelf operation considering the only desire/compensation comes from love of the game. This is not directed to anyone in particular nor is it a flame, but I would almost bet my left nut that most of the complainers dont have much to do on a daily basis other than play this game or complain about it and really dont have much of an understanding of what a real life job is. Fortunately I teach and I have this massive amount of time during the daytime in summer, but I dont think I could EVER be one of those players I see Online EVERY time I log in. Sorry for rambling, keep up the work. The worthy ones will stay and others will go. Maybe they will give up the forums too when they leave (crosses fingers)

If the vast majority understand this and are happy why are there 14 people online on a Friday?

dont listen to the trolls sir nillbog, server and rogean are doing a fine job, just like you said. IMO stop patching, too many patches and Gm interaction are what drove people away. Look at samwise, one minute hes dissing the server and next hes on LoZ posting screen shots making fun of you, now hes back. Server's downfall like i said is too many patches. Do the right thing and nix this SKY/ content patch. thanks

However, you gave up with the rest of FF after a little bit of a spanking one night. If Nihilum can admit when we've lost a battle but continue to play, try, and have a good time fighting the good fight, then how come everyone else can't? We were called Bluebies for raiding raid targets, but if I log on LoZ, I see the same FF and Holocaust whiners linking raid loot and running around in planar gear. This leads me to believe that it was the fact they were not the dominating force on Red99 was the primary cause of spreading the anti-red99 propoganda thus leading to its current state. I think we can all admit that Red99 is the best, and will always be the best most stable server. It might not have all the perks i.e. translocating at boat docks, soul binders in everyzone, (description of vendor type text), non-classic loot tables and item drops, fixed duration charm, mobs that do not follow pathing, mobs with zero agro radius, dragons that are abled to be 3-manned, and 200x exp... but it will never have a wipe and will always offer the least amount of bugs and guarenteed quality and longevity. True, Devnoob and the other sit in game 20hrs a day and communicate and try to fix bugs as they arise, but thats because there is a newbug discovered every 10seconds, the server is years behind in development than Project1999 is, so its not really the same when you talk about communication as an argument.

All I can say is, I never wanted to "give up," but there's little point in logging in when your guild has basically rage quit. It was a snowball effect, and even for that week, it took several hours of gorilla war tactics each night to slow you guys down until midnight when FF players actually log in. Those numbers were also not representative of the average numbers we usually fielded, which were far less. For whatever reason, all the poopsockers ended up in one guild and there was just never a real chance to contest on this server. For all the bugs you just mentioned at least LoZ presents the opportunity for PVP because it sets the bar of entry so low.
I would love to see this server populated with booming PVP, multiple guilds at the top fighting it out. Unfortunately, I don't see how any of the changes being made will make that a reality, and the real truth is, as depressing as it may be to those of us who invested more time than we'd like to admit here, there's probably nothing that can be done at this point to change that.

I think the OP means just let someone else be able to adjust rules, xp, pvp, etc how they see fit to keep things moving.
This server is not dead. I can see there are people not playing that is obvious but I also can see the hundreds of people view these forums daily! Obvious is so Obvious
