Have you checked if you're even kos in neriak to begin with? My human wiz worships innoruuk and they let him in at level 1 with no faction work.. however i think they were dubious.

Go dwarf or High elf. Free beer vs Free root. I think the dwarf one is the best, because of an actual useful effect
