My shaman is level 13 and the more I play the more I think this class is utter garbage. Okay aside from SOW it seems shaman is just a hybrid meeler caster that is not particularly good at anything.
They get a whole bunch of buffs, that dont seem to matter much for PVE, so leveling is a bitch. Cant kill a blue mob without expending half my mana bar / hp bar. Havnt had much experience with them in PVP, as currently there is nobody around my level, so im mostly just forced to solo PVE most of the time. I have some low level DD spell, and low level poison DOT spell, which does jack all for DPS... and idk it just gets worse and worse every spell bracket. I was told shamans get better later on, maybe the dog pet helps idk, but so far Im really disliking shaman and regret rolling one. What level does the shaman get better, if at all, and what spells does it get later that make a real difference?

I wouldn't really melee buff for PvE.
14 you get nuke and root which levels the power between you and other casters. 19 is fairly weak outside of Healing and Affliction. You probably won't use Affliction much if you're root nuking at this level. 24 is a huge power jump again. Regen and Canni (Canni between med ticks). New poison dot so use Affliction and Envenomed Breath in combination with root. New nuke as well to finish mobs after DoTs take em low. 29 - No noticeable soloing power gains. New heal and slow for grouping, but you shouldn't be getting hit while soloing. 34 - another huge power jump. Easy mode from here out. 39 and 49 will also be big jumps.

When's the champ going to man up? There's a few people leveling now and you could catch a wave.

Also keep in mind Kunark is a long ways off, it may even never come out, we dont know when the fabled kunark will come out. I personally cant see myself playing a melee centric toon that is really painful now in the hopes it will get better later. Iv always been a fan of SK, and other meele hybrids in ALL mmos.... but on this box they are just too weak.

Better gear, both resist gear and stats gear. Spells do not improve all that much (especially in terms of resists sans Lures). The major improvement spell wise is the fast casting nukes. Melee 1-50 are retroactively buffed via widespread better weapons.
Other stuff: Rogue - double backstab 55+. Cakewalk Epic. Duelist. Monk - Access to big-dick damage 2handers. Cakewalk Epic. Innerflame. Warriors, SKs, and Paladins don't gain the same increase as Monks and Rogues, but they were pretty powerful in classic. Disciplines, new spells, and better gear keep them at a relatively stable powerlevel level as classic (that is to say, high tier) while casters plummet and rogues/monks shoot up. Rangers pretty much need a Windstriker to be considered powerful. Trueshot isn't until Velious and the OP Archery shit is Luclin. Not to say you can't do well on one, but you'd probably be better as a different class is all.
