Anyone remember trying to use those print out maps that came with the game to figure out where they were going, in the early period before it was convenient to easily find maps online (when it was actually 1999)? Heh.

quests in this game for the most part arent worth it, the ones that are are noted in the wiki for gear quests, other than than, its straight killing mobs, grouping, and grinding... dont try and quest your way for leveling, because it just wasnt built that way.

i played DAoC for over 6 years, that game was a PL fest, any char i ever had, i PL'd in less than 5 hours to 50. With over 6 chars over rr9, and 2 over RR10 (warden and berserker), i will still easily say, you are in a different ball game brother. In my opinion this game is all about community, meet some friends, get a guild, explore, and leveling will come as you learn. forget about questing until you learn whats important, and work on getting some friends to level with or a guild to help. =)

What i meant by same as DAoC was that you grind to level. I know this isnt anything like it

And i wasn't worried about questing just figured it was worth it to do your class quest. But I agree with you I have a RL friend that has played EQ a lot and he told me pretty much the same thing.

usually the important quest parts of the text are in [ brackets ]. you just repeat that back to the person, like :
what about the brackets?
and the npc says some more stuff. sometimes you gotta play with your wording.

im pretty certain the p1999 wiki has some beginner guides to kinda help you out with just starting.

the other guy def had a point, if you arent in an area thats populated, move to one. this game is all about community and for the most part is very very hard to do alone.

There ARE newbie guides.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.ph...om_Modern_MMOs

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.ph...nner%27s_Guide

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Main_Page

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.ph...ng_Money_Guide

It just happens that the "Getting Started" post is much like EQ itself. It gives you just what you absolutely need to get going, then sets you loose without any more guidance than that.

Really though. Even someone coming from a modern MMO should know how to use google. "p1999 newbie guide" or "p1999 guides" or "help i'm new to p1999!!!" will turn up discussion posts similar to this one, those guides, the wiki, and maybe even the atlas pages.

the only class quest that matters is the epic, and some equipment quests mid level, friends/leveling buddies are more important.

i know when im looking for someone to fill a spot in a group i type /who all friends before i type /who all {class}
