The premise your post is based upon:

This is untrue. You are already granted more time to use the translocator than you were to get on the boat.

This strikes me as being an unsound equation, mathematically.
It's a common programming equation.

What do you type at? 0.03 words per minute?

the bigger difference with TLers isn't the amount of time to type (at least for most people), its that:
1. There are no zone messages when the TLers arrive. I thought I recalled a message in classic, at least in Butcherblock when the boats were pulling in. Maybe it was just friendly players shouting.

2. You can't jump off the sides of the boat to avoid faction issues as they pull into dock when the TLer just dumps you there. Sister Island is heap of corpses if you run by most days. Same will be true when good chars try to take the boat to the OT from TD during Kunark.

I'd say those are affecting more ppl then typing times...

Shoulda swam under the dock and used the TLer from there imo.

And if you fell off the dock when the boat was there the same thing would have been a problem so ???

In other news I noticed that there is still an elf NPC in OOT right in front of where the translocator teleports you. This was fixed at one point but is broken again I think.
