You should be able to zone in, face the wall, cast/click they eye and have it appear on the other side of the wall, without getting aggro. That's the way bards went to check on the undead bard. Eye+bind sight hopping

I'm pretty sure you have to damage a mob before it starts summoning. But I really don't have much experience with summoning mobs in P99. Can anyone confirm this?

there are both types. Somewhere around when NTOV was out, they added "summon on agro" ability, which made some high end dragons impossible to pull at all
