It probably depends on your class/race combo, as well. A level 60 Iksar Shadow Knight should have significantly more total EXP than a Halfling Warrior.

But isn't the xp lost a flat percentage of the xp it took to fill out the previous level? Unless I'm mistaken race or class shouldn't matter. Ie the troll loses more total xp per death than a human because it took more total xp to cap any given level.
