Make sure to twist in Jaxan's Jig O Vigor because that's a good song too, and people love to dance a jig.

The optimal downtime twist:

Cantata of Replenishment with Lute for extra HP
Click of Breath of Harmony
Cassindra's Chorus of Clarity x3

Note: There will be times when he icon for Niv's and Cantata will drop, but since the HP/Mana regen is only applied on the next tick, you will have plenty of time to cycle to it and get them back up before that happens.

With a lute equipped, I do the following
Cantata of Replenishment - base 12 hp per tic, 13 mana per tic
Niv's Melody of Preservation - base 9 hp per tic
Cassindra's Chorus of Clarity x2 - base 7 every cast

I've done what astuce999 has mentioned, but since my lute is secondary only, it's a pain to swap in BoH which is primary only. Also, singing Niv's with a lute means extra hp, and has the added benefit of helping out your shamans by blocking some of damage Canni does to them.(though that benefit is probably not too helpful since they'd lose the buff, and have to wait 3 more casts for a Niv's refresh, therefore losing out on the extra hp per tic)

Haven't really thought about it too much, but in a rare case where you are in a very shaman heavy group while raiding, using Shield of Songs instead of Niv's might be the way to go if everyone is Canniing. With my 24 lute, that'll block 48 damage.
