Alright, seeing as everyone has tried to be nice about it, and the point still hasn't been 'got', I'm going to be a dick for a moment.

I think it's time you read between the lines on the topic you brought up.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

WE KNOW IT'S AN ISSUE. THE CODERS KNOW IT'S AN ISSUE. MOLEHILL != MOUNTAIN.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's nowhere near gamebreaking, as it's been stated before. People are still leveling, druids are still kiting, necros are still fearing. Fact is, it's not as big of a deal as you're making it out to be. If it were, it would be a bigger topic for discussion with the developers when in truth, it's pretty fucking low on the totem pole.

If snare were making shit run faster, then I might give a hearty yo-ho and a chuckle and see what the developers say about how it all went bad in the first place.

Now, let's recount the lessons of the day.

TL;DR 1 : L2Search function.

TL;DR 2 : Deal with it. You're bitching about something that many more people have, over a longer period of time, in a lot better ways, with a whole slew of facts other than "I played on live and was a guide". Provide factual data, not cockpumping boasts.

/soapbox off

Edit: lol@dictionary.com reference. The crow calls the raven black.

It makes the effect from the "Regent Symbol of Innoruuk" worthless. And it hurts my feelings. =(

Ok, nope.. that is wrong. The issue does exist. I'm in a guild on the server with well over 100 people on in the afternoon and they all admit the issue exists and have even told me about the hit range thing that was posted and answered in another thread of the forum where the explanation for it was that they sped up the mobs run speed to compensate for the distance at which a mob could hit a person.
And yes, the first thing I was asked was.. is your toon over weight.. no.
Dual Core issue... no.
Internet speed.. no.
Graphics prob....no.
New to EQ... defiantly not.
Played a druid before... yes (along with alot of other toons the were LVL capped by the time I went to EQ2 and before I was a guide)
Also little back ground info.... I was the head internet tech / IT for a cable company for 5 years before I decided to become a jailer.
Also EQ runs flawless. I have no issues technical wise. And no... even with sow (unless I use snare) regular mobs like beetles.. wolves.. orcs.. lions.. etc.. can run just as fast and I can't out run them..
Is that using the run sideways and jumping thing.. ummm .. no.. shouldn't have to with sow on. You should be able to out run everything until Kunark if you have sow.
There were some mobs in Kunark that could actually run as fast or even out run sow in some of the zones.. but there weren't a lot.
And no I'm not offended by cursing.. I work with inmates all day that curse worse then a sailer at times.. I only get offended when it is the first thing a person starts with instead of actually sounding intelligent and discussing a matter or if it directed toward someone. I don't even let inmates curse "at" me.. of course I have been doing that now for the last 6 years.
Unless you have a dual core problem or the mob itself has SoW, or is just a mob that happens to be faster (like the named centaur in SK), SoW will always be enough to get away from the mob. They might hit you once or twice while you're trying to get away because of the absurdly long hitboxes, but if you're running in an efficient path you will almost always run faster. UR DOIN IT WRONG.

Also, even without SoW you can strafe-run to get away from 95% of mobs.

Lastly, no one is less mature or intelligent for using the word "fuck" or any other explitive, if that were the case I doubt there would be nobel-prize winning writers who used those words frequently.

This. As I mentioned, my 9 Shaman could run in wide circles with his lowest-speed level 9 SoW and never get hit by a mob except for the initial hits he might take when he was right next to it. If this isn't the case for you (the original poster), you must have technical issues that are causing your character to lag. Sorry you seem to think that this is impossible because you are so good at technology!

I was sowed (not encumbered) leaving gfay last night on a run to kaladim and "a Goblin" (level 7 or 8 mob, not sure if it was special (is there a goblin runner quest, where the goblin is fast? i don't remember)) was able to stay with me all the way to the crossroads.

is it a big deal? not at all.

This is my perception....

strafe run kept him from hitting me, but the milisecond I let go of the strafe button i was hit.

If I remember from 1999 ~ 2001 for me it seemed that strafe run also granted you some distance between the mob and yourself. (sowed or not sowed)

but this is from a 10 year old memory and like i said... not a big deal to me. The developers of this server are/have done a fantastic job. I damn near cried when I walked out of Felwithe for the first time the other night.
