You could have split up the basement.
Why did they want to boot the mage? In that level range (and in general) a mage is an extremely functional dps member. If they aren’t AFK AF or not assisting. How bad was this mage on a scale from 1-10? Lol the unrest drama is real. I know it’s a long run through the cauldron but Mistmoore isn’t far away.

Sure, weird. They could have asked him to assist instead of kicking him. Who had the camp before? Did OP join the others at that camp or vice versa? If they joined OP and the Mage at that spot that they've been at, then the other 4 should have left to another camp after the failed vote. It sounds like they just assumed control of the camp because they were the majority. However, all of this is useless if OP screws up by logging onto his main and going nuclear.

On the other edge of the sword, one could argue (and has argued) that /camping to your other character is logging off and relinquishing the camp. Though his mage buddy apparently was still there, so technically can still lay claim to the camp? But all of basement isn't a single camp, so the logic doesn't fly there. But then the argument could be made "well dude's solo, he's not able to solo this camp and he's not FTEing in reasonable amount of time to hold the camp"
Moral of the story, don't escalate the knife fight by bringing a gun to it.
