It's probably the #1 reason normal people don't want to play here.

This is why instances were put in to modern gaming, some kids will give up their lives to control a computer game, Joe Rogan has a funny podcast about talking about Everquest and his buddy realising he's a loser in life because he's so successful in game.

It's pretty sad actually, and it ruins it for the box - especially for a FFA PVP server you really need to have multiple guilds playing, requiring #1 to get bored eventually, for it to be fun.

I guess he's having fun, but it's really disgusting - I never really have seen gaming like this up close. Tune is online right now I logged on to check things out, theres 38 people online and he has max gear/max tradeskills, this box is like a weird social experiment, and those guys I can't understand or relate to at all.

This is why people don't make games like EQ, and it's kind of sad. Nihilum sets the pace at #1, and then shit rolls down hill, until everyone just wants everyone else to quit, and grief, and talk shit. This is by far the most boring, worst EQEMU box I have been on - and it had BY FAR the most potential, strange.

I'd take a VZTZ box over this any day, I don't even know what this is, is this an RMT scheme? I can't imagine there being that much red platinum/blue people coming over for Nizzar to make a significant profit from but I don't know. Hopefully Teams is fun, but maybe it'll just be the same weirdos that drive everyone away.

naw no rmt scheme, just a whole lot of playtime. I felt disgusting having 34 days played on my cleric, those 2 freaks are prolly pushing 250-300 by now- they are just so 'pot' committed to their characters they can't do anything else, even if they wanted to. What they need is a dose of reality, and that has to come from a family member [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.][You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

VZTZ was a far more superior server because getting to 60 and decent enough gear to pvp did not take 6 months to a year to achieve.

Look, the classic ideology is a nice novelty but it does not work anymore. Some amendments need to be made in order to make a eqemu server more enjoyable. People with any sense don't want to devote live like time onto an emu server. Regardless if this server has never been and never will be wiped, most people understand that emu is by no means a 100% fail safe stable thing.

This eventually limits our population. VZTZ had a smaller population but only because emu was not as popular 6 years ago as well as not having such a huge community to draw from now with better resources.

The harder it is to get max level and decent gear, the better it is for the people that can play the game like it is their job.

Teams server will NOT solve this problem either.

I agree, sitting in a zone killing the same mobs for hours is boring, and is an overrated feature of EQ and not necessary for it to feel like EQ.

Everyone with a reasonable amount of time should be able to get max level, 51-60 is so ridiculous people quit over it.

The exp grind is nostalgic, the actual game starts at max level, lets be honest. If you like the journey that much and it's too fast for you, make an alt, make a few. I would love to try out and mess with an enchanter considering I'm playing one on teams, but I can't even force myself to level, it's brutal.

I've said this a ton in the past, and it seems like an issue they won't budge on. They say "fine the trolls can have their way" and give us some micky mouse bonus that might only take u like 12 days played for 60 instead of 20. I don't know, PVP box should be about fun PVP, not blue shit - that's for the blue server.

I think it's a compromise though, they're trying to create at least a grouping scene that people can play with. It might make it OK to log on and find groups and might be a bit of fun, but who knows. Red99 you log on and get ready to solo, for snail speed exp, which really is a major issue.

By your rational why not just have one zone with everyone instant 50 and max spells/gear.

Then every 20 mins the zone switches and PVP happens for another 20 mins..and so on..

No NPCs..no quests...just PVP.

Keep the PVP ladder board and even schedule guild v guild matches!

Just like Counter-Strike....

As far as I knew there would be a teams scaling group exp bonus - and I would love to see it top out at 300%, that felt quick enough that you didn't want to put a gun in your mouth, but still kept things somewhat classic EQ grind.

That's your typical argument over increased exp, along the lines of "THIS IS HARD GO PLAY WOW" type shit.

It really doesn't make sense defining the game by grinding levels this brutally. We've all done it, it's skillless brainless "work" that you have to do before playing the game.

Especially on Red99, it's mostly solo work, and really doesn't define anything that's fun about the game or PVP.

Raid mobs, quest armor/items, PVP, planes I mean there's tons to do in the world at max level that is worth while and fun, that make it very different from Counter Strike, it's just a ridiculous argument.

There's nothing hard about grinding to max level, it just takes an insane amount of time, and has nothing really to do with what would make the game fun for people.

It's a fun nostalgic part of the game, but that's about it - you don't have to fight your way through all the pvp, you don't have to figure out difficult situations, you just have to be logged in doing mundane shit for hours and hours, I think I've already said that though.

EDIT : I should add, levelling/character building actually is a fun part of everquest, when it doesn't take your family being pissed at you, or your girlfriend leaving you amount of time etc.
