Sony did not care about the rmt as much as the problems it caused them from the CS department and people getting ripped off. That is where their main problem with it came.
Can't believe that I'm saying this but thanks elderan. It looks like the gms don't want rmt because they don't want to enforce the csr part of deals gone bad. Understandable.

The point was to illustrate that RMTing has been around since the birth of the game in 1999, regardless of Sony officially supporting it or not. As you said, PlayerAuctions and a few other sites popped right up in the wake of Ebay complying with Sony's request to pull those auctions (they were never "forced" fyi). Never heard of Sony going after any others after the Ebay incident.

Their viewpoint was that the sales encouraged cheating, created animosity amongst the community and provided an avenue for scammers to sucker people. I'd venture to guess that having an employee creating items on the side to sell for RL cash didn't help either.

Seems logical that Rogean and Co. hold the same opinion.

Can confirm. The first email/csr i ever received was from eBay not from SONY. I was funneling plat and items from Rallos Zek to the legends server and back to rallos zek by the millions and if sony cared at all they would have banned my accounts.

So then why is it not allowed? It's the only reason that I can think of other than not classic.
Elderan answered it pretty well I think, as it applies here the same as it did on live:

I think the biggest evidence of this is that they used to allow account for items/plat/account trades, player run casinos, etc - and now that is all against the rules. People will find a way to fuck each other over if they can, why should the staff here be the ones constantly sorting that garbage out when someone scams someone else?

Plus it's just general human nature to believe something is supported if it isn't stated somewhere explicitly that it isn't. It HAS to be against the rules, even if they truly don't give a shit.

Yep, pretty spot on imo.

lol who do you think you're fooling?

Generally felons can vote again once their supervision has been completed. You're still a felon, though, Eldermoran.

Could you imagine going to dinner with Elderan and trying to split the check? AT LEAST MY NUMBERS ADD UP!

Felon thing shouldn't be a big deal anyways considering 3 years ago Elderan was bragging about stealing from people (The Boy Scouts) to his guild on blue. Of course it was all surrounded with lies, as is usual for Elderan, but here he is still trying to deny it despite his own admission and the supporting proof.
