My comment "suggests" nothing other than to teach your kids the non aggression and self ownership principle through your words AND actions.

If every parent did this...violent crimes would plummet in a generation.

But if that happened, then counties and cities wouldnt have an endless stream of revenue making government bloated and rich so no "authority" figure is going to tell you to do this...as they depend on dumb people being violent to ensure their jobs.

Coercion:
1. the practice of persuading someone to do something by using force or threats.

Does this mean parents shouldn't be allowed to threaten their kid with a time out when they make a scene in public over not getting the toy they want?

I think talking about a child's natural rights is kind of tricky. We already impose a large amount of legal limitations on minors. In reality, as a society, we pretty much strip children of their rights. Their relationship to their parents, and to the state, is an authoritarian one.

Its the threat of force and the act of force i object to. Time outs are fine.

Government also strips adults of their rights....the government has become overtly authoritarian on the left and the right.

Yelling, more than often, is more annoying than your child's behavior to the outside observer.

If i see you hitting your kid in public and tell you to stop and you try to use force against me, you will wake up with a flash light in your eyes.

Be warned.

Very well, but what it *sounds* like you're implying is that kids who get/got spankings when they were young are all the violent criminals that are roaming the streets or locked up right now...

...while actually, the one thing that most male convicts serving time right now have in common is: They grew up without a father in the home.

I don't know how it is where you are or how you grew up, but around here it's usually the father that disciplines the children in the home (and usually the one to give spankings). So in short, was I "scared" of my father tearing my ass up if I did something I knew I shouldn't as a child? Of course...if I didn't get out of line it was because I knew what would be waiting for me afterwords.

Wait a second...you "tell someone to stop"? Under what authority? What are you going to do about it if they don't comply? Blow a rape whistle?

You might want to check your state's laws, because here where I am if you approach me in a threatening manner (especially with something in your hand) in public...you are subject to staring down the barrel of my gun. Also keep in mind any witnesses in the area will see you being the aggressor in that situation.

Your eagerness to confront a complete stranger (whom you have no authority over) could very well get yourself hurt or even killed. I mean, you can do what you want but when I'm in public I mind my own business.

Irony as intended?

I believe that poverty has been demonstrated to be the main catalyst of both violent and non-violent crimes. Being raised in a single parent household is going to contribute to that.

If i feel imminently threatened I will knock your block off.

How is self defense violating my previous endorsement of the non aggression principle? Public school system = failing humanity.
