Does anyone know if its possible to solo Trakanon as a Paladin? I've heard he drops the Deepwater Breastplate which would be a nice upgrade.

You don't have to play a Paladin to know that a GFG will crush a Ghoulbane post 30. It's common fucking sense. The only exception would be something like a barb spiritist hammer with god proc rate.

My first character here was a crappily geared paladin who was wearing bronze until he started replacing it with planar. I had managed to save up enough for a ghoulbane by making a blue for red platinum trade for a few hundred red plat (netting me about 800pp I felt rich!!!) and got the ghoulbane at 20. I will say the ghoulbane at that level was ridiculous, but based on advice I had gotten on these boards I thought it would be a solid weapon for a long time. Then one night (I think high 20's maybe very low 30s) I was in a group with another paladin who had a baton of faith and he was murdering me in DPS with my ghoulbane, vs undead lol. Next day with a trip to EC and 200ppish from selling unrest bronze drops I had my baton of faith and never looked back. Ended up giving the ghoulbane away to a guildie for his epic turn in lol (Yur welcome Onshuu :P) As to the OP -- one, buy a baton of faith, or a GFG if u have the money. Two -- stop using that soulfire its literally garbage as a weapon beyond the charges of CH. You use soulfire to play dress-up in ec not hit things with. Three, one fairly good duo you can do is with an enchanter. With my totally untwinked pally I managed to do a good portion of lvls 30-52 duoing with a friend who was an enchanter for pretty fast exp. It was a fun combo, could do some neat things -- probably slows the enchanter down vs duoing with like a shaman or cleric but still pretty solid. Once you hit 45 and you can helmetheal all sorts of fun things open themselves up. I will say the key to this duo is the chanter charming something that can backstab. Pre 50 anytime the chanter can manage that things will just melt under the chanter's pets while you keep the mob turned properly and the chanter alive, lol. Hope this is of assistance.

Well I think we are talking about several different things, I dont want to derail this thread anymore about the GB vs Face Grinder vs Baton
( btw sorry Tec ur right its 142 not 182 my bad there, ur right as usual) anyway my point was if he is SOLOING the Ghoulbane proc bursts will sometimes make or break a fight when in Lguk. Obv if you are not fighting undead Ghoulbane is worthless compared to the other two, but he was mentioning lguk constantly so I figured thats where he would be ( and paladins DO shine there solo, not efficient or fast but we can get it done there compared to other melees ) Also how hard can a lvl 30 even hit with 2handers, isnt there a damage cap or does it get totally removed at 30? TLDR yes Face Grinder and Baton prob parse better but if you are soloing the parse is only half the story and sometimes some well timed procs will basically win you the fight.

Damage caps are all kinda soft caps. 1-9 the cap is 18 but you will hit harder than that thanks to strength and skills. 10-19 the cap is 28, but again you can hit for mid-40s or even harder if you have high str (not to mention attack buffs!). You hit for 60+ regularly once you ding 20 but continue to see large gains in your maximum hit with each level up until 30, when I believe the cap is gone entirely. My ranger started using his woodsman's staff (31/35) as soon as he hit 20 and was hitting for 60 nonstop, but also frequently would be getting 70-80 hits; now at 27, 60 is still the number I see the most often, but my max hit is up over 100.
And yeah, no one will argue with you that a lucky streak of procs is a great thing. But relying on luck to survive a tough fight is... yeah... that's a bad way to grind out the long road to 60. That's why I was so adamant about GFG (or even baton) being superior to GB, even at 20 when GB is at its peak.
