The name sounds familiar. I'll have to check out some of his stuff. Didn't he do something with Buckethead?

More than likely - he's collaborated with a number of people over the years. I particularly enjoy his work with Shawn Lane (and Jeff Sipe on drums), especially the albums Temporal Analogues of Paradise and Time is the Enemy. Some people can't get their brain around the whole fusion thing (though this stuff is more rock music than fusion), but if you can, you will probably never experience their equal.
