If you decied to make a Barbarian, then the spiritist's hammer is spectacular. For Troll/Ogre, I would suggest pumping up hp/ac for a slow tank build. This will not help with mana until you get your first canni spell, but the the hp will convert to mana nicely. Perhaps consider even getting a Granite Face Grinder and an FBSS or another haste item for ultimate slow tankage.
