The people who invented the first space ships were brilliant. That doesn't mean anybody should actually want to use them 200 years later. Ideas are limited by means of execution. Everquest has amazing ideas that need to be completely reworked in their execution, in order for classic Everquest as it was envisioned to actually exist and continue to be relevant as things have evolved.

Hmmm seems kind of silly not to take advantage of. I mean, I'm all for immersion and not having map and compass, but not being able to find out what a spell is before purchasing? That's just mean [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

As you surmise, you'll have to do what the rest of us do: Use the Project1999 wiki or some other source for classic EQ spell info. I agree it's a bit of a nuisance, but that's how it was back then, so that's how it is on here now. Be sure you use a resource with era-appropriate information. Modern sources won't list the same data due to tweaks to spells over the years.

The interface is only new because the admins haven't yet found a means of forcing the old-style UI.

Frustrating? Yes. But back in the day you'd buy a spell and experiement with it to find out what it did [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Added to the immersion.

I would have to disagree. The point is a bit moot, there could be a happy medium seeing how no one really experiments to find out what the spell does, they go on the Wiki and find out before buying it. Back in the day there was no wiki so you had to experiment.

I guess the only real reason for keeping this "frustrating" feature in place is to remind people of how frustrating it was back in the day [You must be logged in to view images. And as an added bonus, every time someone goes to the project1999 wiki it adds those views and clicks that make the site ever more popular for search engines.

But thanks for your reply, I didn't really consider the "experiment" argument before. Although I don't agree with it, it gave me something to consider.

Cheers!
