Inflation

Contrary to what hardcore raiders who have 5 or 6 lvl 60 alts will tell you. It's not very easy to make money as a lower level character, yet the prices of items keeps going up. Most items that would/should sell for under 1k or even 500pp in some cases are usually ending up on NPC vendors because people don't want to sit in EC for 2-3 hours to make less than 5k plat at a time, it's just not worth it when the item they are saving up for costs 60-200k.

Don't get me wrong, there are tons of generous players who still give out old gear to newer players, offering buffs to lowbies etc. But that doesn't change the fact that the economy is indeed fucked.

In before DAR's price has been constant for 3 years. That's the only item that's stayed constant. FBSS and JBoots like everything else are through the roof compared to just a year ago.
