If it's unrealistic, it's only because we've made it that way. Player enforced rules could really increase population imo, but we'd rather hurt ourselves in a misguided attempt at holding our enemies back.

And I'm with Heartbrand about the yellow text thing; what's the big deal? It doesn't seem like it would really impact gameplay much at all.
