You can check out the guilds section of the forums to browse for a guild that might be a good fit your character. Where you want to go level depends on whether you REALLY want to group, or if you don't mind soloing while you are LFG.

Oasis will be the most convenient spot to get to and will also be your best bet for finding a group at any given time of day; oasis would be good for a few levels and then you'd need to move on.

Unrest is the right level, and there's lots to say about it. Pros: great experience zone, lots of undead mobs for you to smite, you can stay in unrest from 14 all the way up to 35-40. Cons: a fairly long run to get to, small zone so it doesn't take many other people in the zone and you can't find anything to kill, it's a tougher spot to solo than oasis because you can get adds pretty easily especially on the lower level and outdoors.

Kurns is the other place I could think of. Pros: another great xp bonus zone, even more undead to blow up than in unrest (you can collect 30+ stacks of bonechips leveling from 14-20 here probably, which you can sell for an easy 150pp or more), you can stay here until 20ish. Cons: you can find iksars in here during peak hours but it might be pretty empty the rest of the time, it is a VERY long run over there (though you can bind in the ruins by kaesora, in field of bone, you still wouldnt want to be making trips to and from this zone... you're staying all the way until 20).

You could eke out an existence in the karanas from 14 all the way up to 35+ if you wanted to, first in WK on bandits if you can find a partner, or NK soloing beetles or something, then EK doing random stuff and/or spiders, then SK doing aviaks/centaurs/gnolls.
